EDUCATIONAL MOTIVATION AND STUDY HABITS IN HEALTH SCIENCE IN-GRESSANTS

This work was carried out with the objective of determining the relationship between educational motivation and study habits in health science entrants. This is a correlational study, cross-sectional with quantitative approach. The population was formed by 232 incoming university students of health sciences of the National University Hermilio Valdizan de Huanuco in 2019. The Educational Motivation Scale and the Study Habits Inventory (CASM - 85) and the statistical package SPSS 23 were used. For the bivariate analysis, the Spearman Rho correlation test was used, too. Students applied study habits with a negative tendency (66.4%) and 83.2% (193 students) showed in high educational motivation. On the other hand, a significant relationship was found among study habits and the dimensions of intrinsic motivation (p <= 0.001), extrinsic motivation (p <= 0,000) and motivation (p <= 0,000). It is concluded that the educational motivation and the habit of study of the incoming students of health science of the National University Hermilio Valdizan de Huanuco keep a statistically positive correlation.
