摘要

•Paleogenetic analyses of sediment samples from the pelvic cavity of four human skeletons were performed.•Genetic evidence of cholera infection was detected in, at least, one individual.•This is the first report of Vibrio cholerae ancient DNA belonging to the fifth cholera pandemic.
