Abstract
Type Theory has been used successfully for modelling the syntax and the semantics of natural languages. However, so far, its applications have been limited mostly to systems for symbolic processing, while the majority of the modern systems are based on probabilistic models. In this chapter we investigate to what extend probabilistic models can be combined with natural language syntax expressed in abstract type-theoretical terms.
