Abstract
This paper is concerned with a Help-Diagnosis System (HDS-ID) that allows professionals in therapy to assess the alignment of the trunk of people with intellectual disabilities (ID). In this study, according to The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V), 77% of the participants have moderate ID and 23% have severe ID. Data collection was carried out from all participants, in an institutional and equestrian center context, with specific tasks. The main objective is to allow therapists to perform in the field and plan future specific tasks for postural corrections. The results show statistically significant differences for the alignment of the static trunk in the sagittal plane, in the biped and sitting position on the horse. One of the applications developed allows the therapist to monitor, in real-time, the trunk alignment autonomously.
