Evaluation of policy scenarios for water resources planning and management in an arid region

•First comprehensive scenario-based water policy study in the Gulf region.•Presenting four ensembles of scenarios to achieve water resources sustainability.•Sustainability scenarios achieved water balance yet with sizeable interventions.•Water balance is achieved with least interventions in conservation scenarios.•Results are currently utilized to set up the water vision for Abu Dhabi government.
