Abstract
With rapid change in technology, there is a need for development of materials to meet new demands of industry particularly in the aerospace. To focus on such a development, composite materials enables the implementation of new materials through hybridization sequence and by adopting combination of natural and synthetic fibres. In this study focus on mechanical characterization of hybrid composites and the variation of its stacking sequence through bi-directional woven fabrication using basalt and flax composites manufactured using vacuum bagging technique and varying thickness is presented. Based on the test results of Eight different combination it is found that Basalt exhibited better tensile and flexural properties as compared to pure Flax. It is worth noting that the presence of Basalt fibres at the outer layer enhances flexural strength to a greater extent than at the centre of the laminate. It is worth noting that Basalt fibres plays a significant role in stacking sequence and mechanical properties of the laminates.
