Identifying global research gaps to mitigate antimicrobial resistance: A scoping review

•Reviews related to antimicrobial resistance report a wide variety of research gaps.•These include research gaps in the human health, animal, plant, food, and environment sectors.•Many gaps concern surveillance of antimicrobial resistance or research methodologies.•Other important gaps concern modeling, ecology, and interventions to combat antimicrobial resistance.
