摘要

•Phytol and cholesterol trimethylsilyl ether were the major compounds of S. rostratum EO.•EO exhibited suppressive effect on seed germination and seedling growth of receiver species.•It is unlikely that volatile allelochemicals contribute significantly to its invasion success.
