Seed oil content and phenology of Physaria species (Brassicaceae) differing in their life-cycle

•We studied differences in phenology and oil content linked to life-cycle in Physaria.•Annuals bloomed and fruiting early and had a shorter and determinate growth cycle.•Perennials had a longer seed filling phase, especially P. mendocina.•The oil content was higher in P. gracilis and P. medocina, not linked to life-cycle.•Oil content decreased over time in the annuals and P. pinetorum, as temperature increased.
