A diverse range of physicochemically-distinct biochars made from a combination of different feedstock tissues and pyrolysis temperatures from a biodiesel plant Jatropha curcas: A comparative study

•Diverse physicochemical differences in biochar were generated from Jatropha biomass.•Different combinations of Jatropha tissues and pyrolysis temperatures were compared.•Leaf biochar was rich in nutrient minerals and trunk biochar was rich in calcium.•Water holding capacity of silica sand was improved by Jatropha biochar amendment.
