Dielectric and magnetoelectric properties of (BiBa)(FeTiZn) O3/CoFe2O4 lead-free particulate composites

•Ferroelectric solid-solution of 0.67BiFeO3-0.33BaTiO3 is used for first time to fabricate novel multiferroic composite.•Interestingly, this compound shows a non-relaxor behavior, however, in composite with CoFe2O4 exhibits relaxor properties.•The magnetic field dependence of magnetoelectric voltage is discussed comprehensively as a complex quantity α=α′-Iα′. It is argued that the field dependence of α′ can be interpreted using the dynamic piezomagnetic coefficient, i.e. q=∂λ/∂H.•By comparing two different spinel ferrites, CoFe2O4 and NiFe2O4, it is shown that NiFe2O4 produces larger magnetoelectric voltage at lower magnetic field.
