Design and numerical analysis of spur gear using SolidWorks simulation technique

The investigation included design and numerical analysis of Spur Gear considering stainless steel, a composite material Ti-3Al-8 V-6Cr-4Mo-4Zr (SS) and ZnAC41A alloy as the materials of investigation. Adopting SolidWorks simulation techniques of the spur gear and numerical analysis of strain, stress distribution and deformation under - load, were carried out separately for the spur gears designed with each of the three materials. On the basis of the results, the lighter composite materials Ti-3Al-8 V-6Cr-4Mo-4Zr with moderate stress distributions, lower strain values and least deformation under load, was found to be the material of choice for the purpose.
