•New Bio-ASP application for enhancement of oil recovery.•Surfactin (400 ppm) and schizophyllan (600 ppm) were used with sodium carbonate (1.1%).•Core flood experiments were carried out using Omani and Berea sandstone core plugs.•An ABsBp slug (0.5 PV) followed by 3 PV Bp drive showed 14–32% additional oil recovery.
