Phase-Surface Enabled Electrochemical Properties And Room Temperature Work Function Of Lini1/3mn1/3co1/3o2 Cathode Thin Films

High quality LiNi1/3Mn1/3Ni1/3O2 thin films with triangular morphology are grown by sputtering technique. Xray photoelectron spectroscopy studies indicate the presence of all the elements and their oxidation states. The work function of LiNi1/3Mn1/3Ni1/3O2, which determines the electrochemical window of all-solid thin film batteries is determined to be 5.44 eV. Electrochemical cyclic voltammetry data exhibit oxidation and reduction peaks at 3.8 V and 3.5 V vs Li respectively. Specific capacity of the thin film calculated from the cyclic voltammetry is 91 mu Ah/cm(2). LiCo1/3Ni1/3Mn1/3O2 thin films can be employed as a cathode layer in all-solid thin film battery fabrication.
