Analytical view factor solutions of a spherical cap from an infinitesimal surface

•Analytical view factor solutions of a spherical cap from an infinitesimal surface are derived.•The derived solutions and necessary classification process are implemented in Python script.•The analytical calculation cost is lower than that of the ray tracing or numerical integration.•By using the spherical cap view factor, thermal radiation from a sphere can be evaluated section-wise.
