Synthesis of novel aryl and coumarin substituted pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine derivatives as potent anti-inflammatory and anticancer agents

•An efficient protocol has been developed for the synthesize of pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine derivatives of coumarin/aryl/ from 5-amino-4-cyano-3-cyanomethylpyrazole in the presence of catalytic amount of ceric ammonium nitrate as a green catalyst.•The tested compounds have exhibited promising anti-inflammatory activity by egg albumin denaturation method.•The preliminary in vitro investigation on the potential antiproliferative effect on cancer cells evidenced that the compounds have reduced pharmacologically prominent compare to other reported compounds.
