Crack growth in borate and silicate glasses: Stress-corrosion susceptibility and hydrolytic resistance

•Crack growth was measured in alkali alkaline earth silicate and borate glasses.•Stress-corrosion susceptibility does not strictly correlate with hydrolytic resistance.•Region I crack growth exponents decrease with the total network modifier ion fraction.•This decrease could be caused by corrosion related energy dissipation.
