Short and long term comparison of biological pericardial and prosthetic patches for carotid endarterectomy with angioplasty: a bicentric retrospective study

Several types of patches are available on the market for carotid endarterectomy (CE) with widening angioplasty, including prosthetic and biological patches. The development of pericardial patches is relatively recent. In spite of the growing use of these patches biological, there are few data in the literature comparing the results of these two types of patches. The aim of this study was to compare the short and long term results of bovine pericardium (BP) patches vs. prosthetic patches (PP) for carotid endarterectomy.
