Polypyrrole production through chemical polymerization using anionic and cationic dopants: The influence of synthesis conditions and reaction kinetics

•Chemical polymerization of Py in water was studied using gravimetric analysis.•Anionic surfactants increased polymer conductivity and production.•The increase in temperature and oxidant concentration increased the Py conversion.•The model considering two fast sequential reactions suitably described the kinetics.
