High emissivity double-layer coating on the flexible aluminum silicate fiber fabric with enhanced interfacial bonding strength and high temperature resistance

•A protective double-layer SiC-ZrO2 coating was fabricated on the surface of flexible aluminum silicate fiber fabric.•SiC-ZrO2 coated aluminum silicate fiber fabric possesses high emissivity, tensile strength and interface shear strength.•ZrO2 transition layer improves the toughness of the double-layer coating based on transformation toughening.•The introduction of the double-layer SiC-ZrO2 coating greatly improves the thermal insulation performance of fiber fabric.
