Case Presentation A 14 year old male was transferred from an outside hospital with left upper neck pain and swelling one day prior to admission. The pain was described as sudden in onset, tender to touch and exacerbated by movement. Three years ago, the patient reported a similar episode, diagnosed as lymphadenitis and resolved following a course of antibiotics. He denied any other symptoms. Vital signs were stable on presentation with no signs of respiratory distress. The swelling in the left lateral neck region was described as soft, edematous, non-fluctuant and non-erythematous.
