Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) expression levels on the efficacy of chemotherapy in patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma. Methods: 102 patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma treated in our hospital from June 2017 to August 2018 were selected as the main subjects. According to CEA expression levels, 50 patients were divided into the positive group and 52 patients into the negative group. The factors affecting serum CEA expression of the two groups were compared and analysed, and the effects of these factors on the efficacy of chemotherapy were further analysed. Results: Smoking history was an independent factor affecting the expression level of CEA in patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma (chi(2)=4.708, P<0.05). After four weeks of treatment, the recent control rate was 84.00% in the positive group and 66.67% in the negative group. The difference was statistically significant (chi(2)=6.457, P<0.05). The mean and median progression-free survival were positive in the positive group. The difference was statistically significant (t=13.206, P<0.05). Conclusion: When the serum CEA expression level is positive in patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma, the effect of chemotherapy is better.
