Performance Analysis of Intra Block Copy for Screen Content Coding in AVS3

Screen content video gradually penetrates into all aspects of people's daily life due to the popularity of the emerging applications such as real-time video conferencing and online gaming with the rapid development of Internet. Thus, it is worth paying close attention to the compression and transmission of screen content video. It has been confirmed that intra block copy (IBC) is an effective coding technology for screen content coding (SCC). In this paper, we implement IBC with several key features on HPM3.2, which is the reference software platform of AVS3. Different simulation tests and performance analysis are also demonstrated. The experimental results show that IBC can greatly improve the coding performance with acceptable time complexity for SCC sequences in AVS3.
