Abstract
Abstract Background This study summarizes all literature comparing unicondylar knee replacement (UKR) with total knee replacement (TKR) in the treatment of isolated medial knee osteoarthritis. Methods This is a PRISMA compliant systematic review of 4 databases and includes a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trial (RCT) and non-RCTs comparing the two techniques. Results Thirteen articles were included with total number of 1888 participants. UKR group had significantly better function scores and less complications in the early and mid-term follow-up. Conclusions UKR instead of TKR should be performed in patients with late-stage isolated medial knee OA.
