Optimal pupil size in older adults for retinal imaging

An eye model incorporating monochromatic aberrations of older eyes was designed in CodeV to determine optimal imaging parameters for retinal imaging instruments targeting older individuals. The optimal pupil sizes for best lateral and axial resolution based on ocular aberrations of 20 subjects was found to be 2.8mm ± 0.4mm, providing lateral resolution of 4.5µm ± 0.7µm and 3.4mm ± 0.6mm, providing axial resolution of 147µm ± 32µm respectively.
