Celebrating 25 ITiCSE Conferences: Involving Everyone to Look at the Past to Construct the Future

AbstractIn December 2019, a group of volunteers started virtual meetings to discuss how to celebrate the 25th ITiCSE anniversary. Many initiatives were proposed and put forward but due to the pandemic situation and the possibility that the conference could be cancelled, a decision has been taken to postpone the celebration to 2021. However, the willingness to hold the conference was stronger than the crisis and the 25th conference took place in a virtual setting. As stated by the next organizer in the closing events, the "bar was set high" this year and the organizers were clever in turning a crisis into an advantage. The decision gave many the possibility to participate and to enjoy the conference in the virtual setting.
