Frequency tuning and bandwidth measurements for a high power 13 CH 3 F laser

A heterodyne receiver system has been developed for measuring the frequency spectrum of individual pulses from a high power optically pumped 13CH 3 F laser. Results obtained thus far are for superradiant emission from the 245 and 248 GHz lines. The pump is a single mode TEA CO 2 laser, tunable ±800 MHz about line center. The superradiant emissions are found to consist of two or more individual frequency components, each is of narrow bandwidth (10–20 MHz FWHM). These components are found to remain fixed as the pump laser is tuned.
