Trace element chemistry of hydrothermal quartz and its genetic significance: A case study from the Xikuangshan and Woxi giant Sb deposits in southern China

•We report trace element data of quartz at Xikuangshan and Woxi Sb deposits.•Major trace elements in quartz are controlled by (Al3+, Sb3+) + (Li+, Na+, K+) ↔ Si4+.•Two different precipitation mechanisms are responsible for two Sb deposits.•Giant Xikuangshan and Woxi Sb deposits were generated by different processes.
