Micellar nanocomposites hydrogels films for pH sensitive controlled drug delivery

•Novel nanocomposites hydrogels film with surfactant micelles of the size ~20 nm.•Facile, cost effective and environmental friendly materials and methods used.•Film is sensitive to pH, preferably to use in bacterial vaginosis pH environment.•The film showed improved antibiotic drug loading and controlled drug release.
