Fabry-Perot interference effects from rock-salt MgZnO/MgO multiple-quantum-well

Fabry-Pérot (F–P) microcavities were constructed in stable rock-salt (RS) structural Mg0·21Zn0·79O/MgO multiple-quantum-well (MQW) with perfect hetero-interface and wide band gap energy (4.930 eV). Obvious F–P interference patterns were observed in both of the transmission and photoluminescence spectra. The transfer matrix method was employed to analyze the F–P interference patterns. In-plane compressive stress-induced double sets of PL interference patterns were observed in the RS-Mg0.21Zn0·79O/MgO MQW. Such a strained MQW with inherent microcavity could be useful for high performance light-emitting devices.
