Simulation of chassis dominated misuse maneuvers to predict crash sensor signals

Because of an increasing significance of car safety the safeguarding against misuse becomes more important at the design of occupant safety systems. The topic of this paper is a method to simulate chassis dominated misuse maneuvers to complete the amount of crash sensor signals for airbag algorithm development. For that purpose the existing chassis part models will be expanded to deal with misuse conditions. Then a validation of the full car simulation is done based on pothole crossing results.
