Influence of harvest season on volatile aroma constituents of two banana cultivars by electronic nose and HS-SPME coupled with GC-MS

•The aroma profile of BX and GF banana harvested in March and September was analyzed using E-nose and GC–MS.•The flavor and volatile profile in BX and GF banana harvested in March differed significantly from those harvested in September.•The relative content of esters in BX and GF banana harvested in March was higher than harvested in September.
