摘要
Clostridioides difficile is one of the most frequent causes of nosocomial infections in humans leading to (antibiotic-associated) diarrhea and severe pseudomembranous colitis. With an increasing frequency, C. difficile infections (CDI) are also observed independently of hospitalization and the age of the patients in an ambulant setting. One potential source of so-called community-acquired CDI is a zoonotic transmission to humans based on direct contact with animals or the consumption of food.
