Tips for uniportal video assisted thoracic surgery S1 segmentectomy

With the advent of lung cancer screening programs, the role of segmentectomy is gaining interest. The evolution of the technique has achieved minimally invasive approaches such as uniportal video assisted thoracic surgery (UniVATS) while preserving its oncological principles. Key steps of the technique as the intersegmental plane demarcation method are still under assessment, but none of them has achieved fully scientific validation yet. We describe our technique for SI segmentectomies and our currently used method for the intersegmental plane delimitation.
