Abstract
The paper presents an overview about numerical methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software packages used for cutting process investigation. Some of them are highly adapted for the users and are undemanding of supplementary experimentation. Another part of software packages demand work piece material behavior input, friction input data and others. Even, FEA demand the set of experiments in order to validate this numerical analysis. Nowadays, in FE modeling some techniques are highly mastered, as finite element meshing, adaptive meshing and another. Besides, not only beginners of this software confront always some questions about how to compose the FE model of turning, milling or drilling. And how to get faster the reliable solution. This paper mostly focuses on the peculiarities of LS-Dyna. Also, the paper will present the technique Smooth Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH).
