Discussion of Critical Factors in Medical Disputes in Medical Ecology

The industrial and commercial development, the prevalence of communication media, the change in social structure, and the effect of utilitarian in past years have seriously struck the harmonious medical environment to gradually increase medical disputes. The worsening process, tactic, and result of medical disputes becomes the fear of modern practicing medical personnel. Practicing medical personnel therefore apply defensive medical behaviors to protect themselves and avoid the criticism of not paying attention to the responsibilities. A lot of unnecessary examinations, treatment, and drugs are therefore increased in hospitals to result in the waste of medical resources by not using drugs and methods which might induce disputes and skillfully avoiding taking serious patients who might induce disputes. In this case, many patients might intangibly lose the chance for treatment. Taking Shanghai as the research sample, medical personnel in Shanghai are distributed the questionnaire to understand the weights of factors in medical disputes. Total 500 copies of questionnaire are randomly distributed, and 382 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 76%. The research results show 1. "adverse events of personnel" as the mostly emphasized dimension, among the evaluation dimensions, followed by "social environment", "hospital factor", and "patient factor" and 2. (1) relationship and communication, (2) media misleading, (3) professional technique, (4) crisis management, and (5) patient situation as top five evaluation indicators, among 17. According to the results to propose suggestions, it is expected to definitely find out the fundamental solution for medical disputes to prevent medical disputes with effective methods.
