The Proverbs as a Means of Gender Stereotypes Expression

The article contains the results of the research of the peculiarities of expression of gender stereotypes with the help of French proverbs, which have the ability to transfer the best national and cultural flavor of the French people. It was found out that the gender identity of the individual significantly affects verbal behavior, causes the specific features of his verbal behavior, and affects the social attitude towards the person, which finds its expression in the established terms, including proverbs. The gender stereotypes of the French people are the established over the centuries views of the French people on marriage and family, the perfect husband and wife, woman's role in family life, the problem of family relationship between husband and wife, parents and children. The choice of the proverbs as an object of the research was motivated by their ability to reflect the collective experience of the people, their ability to be applied to any member of society as the common law.
