In-vitro release kinetic study of domperidon by using water soluble carrier polyvinylpyrrolidone
PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES INDIA SECTION A-PHYSICAL SCIENCES(2011)
Abstract
The effect of surfactant on in vitro dissolution and solubility of domperidon in various fluids such as purified water (pH 6.4), sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), cetyltri methyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), polyethylene glycol (PEG 400, PEG 4000), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP 44000) have been determined. PVP 44000 greatly enhanced the solubility of domperidon. The surprising increase in solubility of domperidon by 10.89 fold is found in 1% PVP 44000. The dissolution rate of domperidon from three commercial formulations was evaluated in the proposed dissolution medium. The dissolution of domperidon exhibited higher rates of dissolution and efficiency values over that of pure drug.
