Abstract
The consumption of hyperproteic diets by individuals attending gymnasiums of physical exercise is growing with the premise of favoring the scenario of muscular hypertrophy and decrease of body fat. However, too often the consumption of this macronutrient can lead to health problems. Due to these facts, it was interesting to carry out this study, which aims to verify the nutritional status and to correlate with the consumption of protein in attendees of academies in Ribeirao Preto-SP. Participated in this work, 60 individuals who performed bodybuilding for at least one year and at least three times a week. After completing the Free and Informed Consent Form, an assessment of body composition was performed by checking specific skinfolds, in addition, frequency questionnaires and three 24-hour recall were applied. For the analysis of the data, the Diet-pro 5.0 program was used to calculate the recall. A high dietary intake of protein (2.83 g/kg), low fat (0.73 g/kg) and low carbohydrate (2.49 g/kg) was found in relation to the daily dietary intake of the participants, compared to what is recommended by Brazilian Society os Sports Medicine. When evaluating the anthropometric data, it was observed that individuals who had a high protein intake (n = 45) had a lower percentage of fat and a higher lean mass. Thus, there may be a relationship between protein consumption and body composition parameters. One important point to note is that our work did not measure the biochemical exams of the same individuals to detect possible changes.
