THREAD AND SPINDLE: TRADTION DIRECTED AT EXPERIMENTATION IN RELATION TO DEVICES FOR SPINNING WOOL

Thanks to direct testimony of sheep's wool spinning from one of the inland valleys of Liguria, the various processes of this technological project were analysed, often over-looked in archaeological studies, using various elements that come into play: from the initial product, the tools used, to the iconographic, historical and archaeological evidences have offered the possibility to make some observations and lead towards different assumptions that lead the way for useful future models that will help the development in the study of the production process prior to the creation of animal fibre based textiles.
