Abstract
In spite that H. pylori have been known to provoke gastric inflammation, ulcer, and DNA damages, still some shed the complicating opinions that eradicating H. pylori might disrupt the homeostastic balance in the stomach and persistence of gastric inflammation even after the eradication of H. pylori will continuously influence the disease outcome. Therefore, alternative or the supplementary therapy with either phytochemicals or dietary compounds might preserve the homeostasis and provide the benefits including attenuating inflammation, rescuing the harmful damages from H. pylori, and correcting the immune skewing. In the study, we showed the several evidences of bioregulation of Korea Red Ginseng, the root of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, on H. pylori-associated chronic gastritis in randomized clinical trials. Red ginseng supplement augmented eradication rates of H. pylori in combination with triple therapy than without. Red ginseng showed advantage of decreasing gastric inflammation and attenuating gastric atrophy. Conclusively, long term administration of red ginseng provides the rescue of H. pylori infected gastric glands from oxidative DNA damage, resulting in chemoprevention in wide scope of consideration.
