Four new species ofPhylloporia(Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota) from southeastern Taiwan

Four new species ofPhylloporia(Hymenochaetales) are presented based on collections made from subtropical-tropical southeastern Taiwan. They areP.alyxiae,P.mori,P.murrayae, andP.rubiacearum. These four species respectively grow on plant generaAlyxia,Morus,Murraya, and family Rubiaceae. Their status of new species inPhylloporiais supported by a combined survey based on morphological features, host species, geographic distribution, and phylogenetic analyses of DNA sequences inferred from a dataset of nuc 28S rDNA. ITS sequence analysis is effective in distinguishingP.alyxiae andP.murrayae, respectively, from the most closely related species. Descriptions, basidiocarp photos, and microscopic illustrations are provided for these new species. So far, 61 species are known in the genusPhylloporiaworldwide.
