Abstract
Glasses of xBi(2)O(3) - (100-x)P2O5 system with (15 <= x <= 30) mol% have been prepared by using melt-quench technique. Density (d) is measured and molar volume (Vm), average molecular weight (M), oxygen packing density (0), for all the glass samples have been calculated. An XRD confirms the amorphous nature of the glasses. IR technique is used to investigate the structure of glasses in order to obtain information about the competitive role of Bi2O3 in the formation of glass network.
