Abstract
The prospects for laser-engineering applications of high-power glow discharge in crossed electrical and magnetic fields are discussed in this article. it is demonstrated that this type of discharge provides for the total removal of all restrictions on specific energy input into plasma related to ionization instabilities. The authors analyze the optimal conditions for active medium excitation by different varieties of the studied type of discharge.
