This opinion paper contrasts the underlying theoretical account of the construct of well being, largely used in positive psychology, and the developmental option supporting the use of the construct of "quality of life". Data collecting the child's level of satisfaction in various domains of their daily life suggest to include informations about quality of life in the analysis of the developmental niche or in the bioecological models of human development.
