Recent Progress in Synthesis of Optically Active alpha-Hydroxyphosphonic Acid and alpha-Hydroxyphosphonates

alpha-Hydroxyphosphonic acids and their derivatives have diverse and interesting biological and biochemical properties. This paper reviews the recent studies on the synthesis of optically active alpha-hydroxyphosphonic acids and alpha-hydroxyphosphonates by chiral auxiliary induced and chiral catalyst catalyzed methods.
