Iron-Catalyzed Regioselective C5-H Benzylation of 8-Aminoquinolines with Benzylic Acetates

A Fe-catalyzed C5-H benzylation reaction of 8-amidoquinoline amides has been developed by employing cheap, abundant benzylic acetates as benzyl sources. This method showcases excellent functional group compatibility and is applicable for gram-scale synthesis or late-stage diversification. Thus it provides an easy access to the corresponding C5-benzylated quinoline derivatives.
