Microfluidic microcantilever as a sensitive platform to measure evaporation rate of picoliters of ethanol

•Resonating microcantilevers are used for ultra-sensitive biochemical applications.•Their resonant frequency is sensitive to fluid mass within an internal microchannel.•Using this property, evaporation rate of small volumes of ethanol is measured.•Numerical models are used to predict resonant behavior of microfluidic cantilevers.•The predicted data are within almost 5% of the corresponding measured values.
