摘要
Increasing rates of youth suicide are cause for concern across the globe. A multipronged approach to identification and management is needed to address this complex issue. Early identification of suicide risk is an important aspect of intervention. Given that 40% of youth who complete suicide are seen in the pediatric setting in the month prior, it is essential to involve pediatricians in this effort. However, pediatric providers are typically not adept at assessing suicide risk in youth. Child and adolescent psychiatrists can help bridge this gap by collaborating with pediatricians across settings to develop clinical workflows. This presentation will review the use of clinical pathways, provide practical implementation guidance, and share evidence from the implementation in pediatric inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings.
