Semantic definitions for Industry 4.0 - Standards as a semantic basis

This contributions shows how standards developed in Germany to describe characteristics (in particular eClass), in combination with other standards and regulations, can provide a semantic basis for the exchange of information in applications of Industry 4.0. The aim is to support the use of German standards in the context of Industry 4.0 and in this way to provide a sound basis for investments in industrial production and processes.
